The Mesquite Police Association, in conjunction with the Mesquite Police Department, provided snow cones to roughly 1,000 Wilkinson Middle School students as a “thank you” for their recent generosity toward a former teacher’s aide who lied to the staff and students claiming that he had cancer.
Over $11,000 was raised for the former teacher’s aide via GoFundMe and charitable donations by the students and faculty of the school. A vehicle was even purchased for the teacher’s aide prior to learning that the whole story was a hoax. The teacher’s aide has since been arrested in another state on a separate charge while a warrant for his arrest has been obtained for the offense of theft by deception for his acts in Mesquite.
The Mesquite Police Association and the Mesquite Police Department wished to show their gratitude to the student body and staff for their kindness which had been inexcusably taken advantage of, so snow cones were provided to each student and staff member free of charge. The event was a huge success and the Mesquite Police Association was proud to sponsor and take part in the event.
